Swim: 1,250 meters
Swim in Cape Meares Lake. It is a shallow lake and consequently the temperatures are warm. Wet suits are optional, but will provide buoyancy and warmth. The temperatures of the lake varies due to the weather. We will provide you with a swim cap but you will want to bring your own goggles.
Bike: 16.84 miles
The bike is a challenging loop starting at the boat ramp adjacent to Cape Meares Lake and climbing up toward the light house–nearly 800 feet in two miles. This 2 mile stretch is closed to traffic permanently and a little rough in spots due to the road settling, but passable. The next 8 miles passes through Oceanside and Netarts with scenic views of the Pacific Ocean and Netarts Bay. The road is windy with little shoulder. Traffic will not be stopped, but volunteers will be at all crossing intersections to help guide traffic. The last 6 miles is flat, most of which is along the Tillamook Bay. It starts and finishes at sea level, but the total ascent of the loop if 1,685 feet.
Run: 4 miles
Four miles sounds kind of easy, but this 4 mile run was designed to challenge and test even the fittest athletes. It starts at the base of Cape Meares Loop Rd. and climbs two miles up to the entrance of the Cape Meares Light House State Park, with a total climb of 800 feet. But what goes up, then goes down and it is a two mile race back to Cape Meares Loop Rd.
